So where does my earlier question sit? Afaik amd cards can't do 144hz on a 144hz monitor, only 120hz, where does this leave them with 240hz?
Hello everyone,
As you may have noticed we provided answer for some of your questions. I hope they help clarify some of the discussion (questions) you had.
And by "we provided" I mean that I worked with my colleague Robert H (a.k.a. Thracks), I'm sure some of you know him already. So a big thank you to Robert and the rest of the AMD folks at HQ who helped as well.
Also, I'm still going to try my best to get you more answers to your other questions here. It will take me some time. As always, I'll keep you up to date on my progress.
However, AMD has no expectation that monitor vendors will simply make new firmware available to customers.
Colour me completely unsurprised.
AMD should absolutely be putting pressure on vendors for the firmware to land with customers.
You must be joking right? Do you really think for one second a company say like Asus would simply release a firmware and loose out on a feature that can sell the displays?
If you do then your mad.
I would be very surprised if we see any getting updated.
Well obviously I didn't think that a vendor would simply release a firmware update, because I said that they likely won't (And have maintained that line) And hence why I was unsurprised AMD have no expectations of firmware releases...............
Hence why I said "AMD should put pressure on vendors".
Also, we've just had a massive boom in monitor technology, it'd probably make a lot of business sense for vendors to launch capable firmware for Freesync, as it may make one buy a monitor quicker, as you've experienced the tech, liked it, but you want to upgrade your monitor, which in some part has to do with Free sync. How often do many of us buy monitors compared to other parts?
Somewhat funnily, you have no interest in FreeSync/Gsync so you wouldn't buy a monitor for it. But if you experienced the tech with your current monitor, chances are you'd be more likely to invest into an even better set up with the technology.
Been looking at monitors lately, i want to upgrade to a 27" 144mhz monitor, guessing i should hold fire right now until the Freesync ones are available?
A much more important question is when will AMD make drivers available? Because with out drivers there could be loads of monitors available and it wouldn't do anyone any good.
I think Warsam said the drivers will be out when the first Free-Sync monitor arrives.

Hi Bru,
I understand, and I can assure you I (together with my team) will do my best to keep everyone informed on any progress we make as we approach end of Q4 2014.
