AMD: FAQ for Project FreeSync is up

Sorry, didn't realise you replied so I edited my last post.

I wonder if some clever person out there will be able to provide a monitor bios to the people with a-sync ready monitors. Its a shame the Manufacturers may not be willing to do so. Especially to those that have supported them with hard earned cash.

There could well be more to it than AMD are letting on. They don't show the framerate in that video and again, they are not giving much info at all really. I wonder if they are having some issues and hence the delay in getting this out to compete with G-Sync.

I think it's more the case of waiting for the current line of monitors to run there course and when the new lines come out some of them should support A-Sync. If there are problems i doubt we will get to here any of it.

I am being serious though and not replying to the fun part. Gibbo said amd have nothing in the pipeline but its not amd we are waiting on. Thats the only part I was replying to. Thats the way it looks to me any how as the cards are here and they have shown it running on a modified monitor.

If it was Nvidia, do you think they'd be waiting on vendors? Hell no. They'd be pushing them.

Like I say, it's likely we won't see many freesync capable monitors even when they use 1.2A.

Amd already helped push through an industry Standard in the new Dp 1.3 standard which if we are to believe was miles off had they not done so. Any way am not getting into a slanging match over time scales and what should have been done. What's done is done and the wait is the wait.

As for not seeing many that might be the case at the start but as time goes by the whole market will be flooded of this i have no doubt. G-Sync is first to market but it's only a matter of time before A-Sync takes it over with how many compatible monitors are on the market.

I am more interested to see how G-Sync and A-Sync stack up against each other.

They had the technology for ages but didn't see what was in front of their noses. nVidia jumped on this and went hammer and tong at getting it released. Only then did AMD wake up and thought they had better do something about it and decided to ask that Adaptive Sync be included in the DP1.2a standard. AMD annoy me in getting others to do their work.

Nvidia brought about G-Sync for there own pockets and not for you. For all you know Nvidia knew the industry standard was coming at some point and decided to milk there customers. Either way am not really bothered. This Amd sitting letting others do there work is getting tiresome. Mantle, True Audio, and Eyefinity say other wise. Maybe it was a problem in the past but i don't think that is the case these days. AMD say they support industry standards and a more open approach which takes longer than Nvidia's in house approach no doubt. How long did it take for Nvidia to bring about surround gaming and Rroff will tell you they always had the tech to do so..

On both sides people need to be more patient as things happen really slow in the Graphic's industry. It's getting slower as well so more patience is required.

You're not really bothered, but you're bothered enough to slate Nvidia and speculate on their intentions?

The 7 series is missing a chip that some of the R series has.

So, the tech has been there for years or hasn't it? AMD can't say the techs been there for years, when it's not been implemented.

It's like steam streaming, the technology has been available for absolutely years, but it's only now it's a reality. So the fact it's been around for ages is absolutely moot.

I think you are confused. I never said the tech has been there for years, that was Greg.
