how fast will amd fusion be compared to top end conroe cpu? i'm thinking about waiting to upgrade my poor athlon xp until sometime in early 2010

Nobody knows. It will certainly be faster than a Conroe by the time you aim to purchase as Conroe will be more'n 3 years old.

The Conroe core will be long retired by then.

Jeeze... Waiting till 2010 to upgrade, your Athlon XP will really be feeling the strain...

Thing is, when the Fusion comes out, i'm sure Intel will have something similar out, so don't waste time waiting, as there will ALWAYS be something better on the horizon and you'll never upgrade...

true but it's good to wait if you know something new is coming out. ie 8XXX nvidia cards coming out in march will drop the prices of other gfx cards so i don't mind waiting.

Couldn't agree more, but waiting till 2010, not what i'd be calling "waiting for something just around the corner"...

yea, i know what you mean. my dad keeps saying you buy it now and it will get old soon and bla bla. if everyone thought like that the only time an upgrade would come would be when the pc went *BANG*
