Ive got a amd fx-6300 2weeks ago and I've just came across the 8320 ( I did not find it at this price at the time ) so I was wondering if i should sell my FX 6300 and get a fx-8320 ?

due to the price drop the fx-8320 is only £30 more

would i see any difference is it worth the time money and hassle ?

I doubt you would see any difference tbh, especially in everyday things.
You've just got the upgrade bug.

thats what I thought thats what i did not bother with the 8350 or 8150
but i was told by a few people on a US site I should upgrade

Well you don't say what you use it for. Eg Gaming, productivity etc etc? Up until that point all is just waffle.

The 8320/50 would be massively better for a lot of modern threaded games. BF3 which is my fav game would benefit from big increases in min frame rate, after all max fps over monitor refresh rate is worthless.

I use the pc for gaming, watching videos, music, internet, photoshop, not very often maybe once in a few months some video editing,

I had a 1055t before and upgraded to the fx 6300 as I could only find the fx 8320 at the time and the ones i could were near the 8350 price range
so I feel a bit disappointed now

as ive had the fx 6300 abourt 2-3 weeks i cant return it so how much should i ask for it ?

Hi, if you can wait for the FX8300:95w TDP/3.3GHz TURBO4.2GHz, the first power efficient CPU from AMD.

Is that one of the Piledriver rev-2 i keep seeing mention on forums but can not find a shred of actual evidence of?

No really i'm genuinely interested.

@ OP, Photoshop and Video editing will improve on the FX-83##

Depending on what games you play you may see an increase in FPS, if you have very powerful GPU, like a 7970 or xFire.

It depends if you think thats worth it?

It will just be FX8320 with a lower base clock, might as well get one of those and downclock it.

Hi, AMD Preps Low Power FX-8300 Processor[Maximumpc News], if you downclock the CPU surely the turbo speed will lower as well, so what is the point?

FX8300-3.3/4.2 turbo 95W TDP compared to FX-8320-3.5/4.0 turbo and FX-8350-4.0/4.2 turbo, both of which are 125W TDP chips.

*Snip*

I have a feeling the FX-8300 with a 95W TDP and 4.2Ghz Boost is going to be a £120 locked chip. Like the Phenom II x6 1035T / 1045T / 1055T.

You will still be able to overclock them with the HT Bus.

Can't see the multi being locked, its a good selling point, it may be $199-£120 in the USA. But over here its got to be roughly the same price of a FX8350 about £140.

Some retailers may try and push the lowest level part in its range for the price of the highest level part.
But i doubt it will work.

sorry everyone for some reason I don't get thread updates emailed to me.

I have a gtx 460

if its mainly for gaming especially if your running a 460 stay as you are as there wont be any difference between the two cpu's.

There would be a slight improvement with photoshop and editing but not enough to make i worth while i would have said.
