AMD FX-8370 benchmark results

I recently bought an AMD FX8370 from Overclockers UK to try on my Asus Crosshair V Formula motherboard.

This processor is one of the three new models in the FX range which also includes the power saving 8370E and 8320E.

I have owned both the 8150 and 8350 FX chips before so I was eager to see how this one compared.

Cooling was with a Promlimatech Megahalems CPU cooler and two Artic F12 fans in push/pull configuration.

First test was to see the lowest voltage needed for 5ghz which was 1.42v which rose to 1.44v under load

Brief test with AIDA64 at 5124 MHz, 1.5v

Cinebench R11.5 and R15

wPrime at 5192 MHz

Pifast at 5350 MHz

SuperPi at 5398 MHz

Maximum validation on air cooling was 5513 MHz

5Ghz @ 1.44v
5.1Ghz @ 1.5v
5.5Ghz @ 1.56v

Thats really good clocking for those chips, looks like they've made some improvements in their manufacturing.

Really glad you posted this. Might finally get rid of the 1100t and use this as a stop gap until Ddr 4 becomes a good option

Very nice overclock.

I won't be swapping the 8350 out this weekend for the 9590 I bought on offer but I am off a couple of days next week, I will try to do as well as this one.

The Stilt said that the FX8320E,FX8370E and FX8370 were a slightly newer revision/stepping,so he might be right.

Yes but almost a suicide run with those volts. Not every day use.

What's the power draw like when you get over 5Ghz OP?

Yeah, anything over 1.5v is silly... still, 5.2Ghz at that voltage aint bad

If it can do 5GHz at 1.44v on air, it must not be using as much power as the original 9590s (since there's obviously much less heat).

That's pretty awesome! I can hit 5GHz on my 8350 but not bench stable, these look like pretty decent chips!

They are rather late to the table and a bit pointless for the enthusiast lurkers on here sporting overclocked intel hardware.

If you bought one a while back (an FX), I will agree with nutella that until DDR4 is the norm the tech available circa end of 2015 will be a step up from the FX.

Can you run the cinebench 15 with only one thread. I just want to see the single thread performance at 5GHz+

They are. Since the 8350 AMD have been binning Centurions so these are the cast offs.

Making me consider swapping out the 8350, as they could be beastly under water.
