AMD FX8320 vs i3-3240

Hey folks, I've been living in Amsterdam for a few weeks months now, and it's time for me to stop using my laptop. My guess is that I'll be here 1-2 years, so I don't want to go all out on buying a fancy-pants PC (I'll do that when I get back to the UK), so I'm looking at something moderately powerful yet "budget".

So this brings me to my CPU choice. If I was buying high-end I'd almost certainly get an i5-3570k (or perhaps wait until next month and get Haswell), but I'm not - I'm looking for the CPU to cost < €150. So that brings me to the AMD FX8320 or i3-3240. Now, looking at it, the FX8320 seems to be the better CPU. Is that right? Also, what justifies the extra £50 of the FX8350 over the 20? Is it just those extra 500MHz (that you can likely overclock out anyway)? Or is there something else I'm missing?

Cheers!

The 8320 is the superior processor, it has the benefit of the extra cores and higher clock speeds, not to mention it can be overclocked.

I would just get the 8320, you can clock the 8320 to the same levels as the 8350 as the 8320 is just a clocked down 8350.

Unless all you play are CPU dependent games that use 4 cores or less such as RTS or MMOs, the AMD FX-8320 would be a better option than the i3 for the same price.

But a 2nd hand i5 2500K at the same price would still be superior.
