AMD given up on VGA output (CRT support) with R290/R290x?

From what I can see, none of the R290/R290x cards have DVI-I output. This means no CRT support. Will this be addressed with non-reference cards, or have AMD abandoned VGA output altogether?

Can't you use an adapter, DP (mini) to DVI and then to VGA etc

Also there are direct DP to vga adapters (active and passive) out there. I used one of them.

You misunderstand. The DVI -> VGA adapters only work if the card has a DVI-I port. The r290 cards do not.

I have never found an active DVI/Displayport -> VGA adapter and the passive ones do not provide support for high resolutions/high refresh rate CRTs.

From my experience you'll struggle to find something thats both semi reasonable priced and reliable that can do DP to VGA above 1920x1200@60Hz.
