AMD Golden Ticket quick question

Just got the AMD golden (and silver) ticket for buying the 7970 yesterday, and was just wondering :

Once redeemed does it just give you Steam keys?

And if so, can you gift the games on Steam just like when you buy a game? Or does it just go straight into your library automatically?
 
My keys were emailed to me I just forwarded them onto a friend.

Edit: sorry reread the question. Once I recieved the keys I had to input them into the steam redeem code thing in the steam console. Then it was added to my library (well the one I kept).
