AMD Graphics Drivers Security Vulnerability

So Zen 3 is announced today, Big Navi is announced in 3 weeks, Nvidia have screwed Ampere and made a horrific launch and now all of a sudden AMD have a security vulnerability with their GPU drivers?

This is a big fat nothing burger :P

Surely a restart is inevitable after a BSOD crash, therefore the problem is solved before it's even a problem :D

its not the vulnerability , but the fix for it. AMD recommends restarting the computer if it BSODS. lol

Funny it is basically a non-issue except maybe in very specific setups but if this was an Intel or nVidia vulnerability the thread would be 10 pages long by now!

EDIT: Though is also amazes me that MS has had a ton of issues with Windows 10 some of them quite severe - far worse stuff than this - yet there is hardly a noise about it.

The point is this issue with AMD drivers is hitting the news right when AMD are about to unveil some big things. Don't you think it's just a little bit convenient?

The timing does seem awfully convenient - the question is who stands to gain.

Everybody who is in competition with AMD stands to gain, I'd wager, but I don't see the "gains" being much more than yet another stab at the mindshare; it's yet another example that could/would reinforce "AMD garbage drivers" and skew perceptions and potential buyers as a result.

So everyday capitalist smearing :P

There are a few people who'd no doubt like to drive the share value down before a likely increase ;)

Graphics card driver bugs that can cause a BSOD are not uncommon, but this is the first time I've seen one be classified as a security vulnerability.

Doesn't it do that automatically? :D
Windows 10 not only restarts automatically, but it doesn't even show the blue screen. It can be quite confusing if it happens when you're not in front of the computer, and you come back and don't know why all your open windows are now closed.

From the things i've seen its a security vulnerability that can be used by someone to induce a BSOD.

Over 1 billion people used Windows 10 everyday not experienced a issue or few, just about 1% or less people reported experienced issues with Windows 10. Surprised minority had stopped complaint about Windows 10 automatic update since 2004 update and also there are so very few issues posted on Feedback Hub. Tons of issues with Windows 10 probably down in very specific setups.

Had you tried Chrome OS? It had ton of bugs, broke features and issues people reported everyday on reddit.

Surprised Chrome OS overtake Linux in UK and USA.
