I have the HD5770 and looking to upgrade.

You think the HD7770 could be a viable upgrade, or should I go 6870 or so?

Budget: £140ish

thats about what it will be - even £130 or so is possible - the 7750 might be down around 100-110 or so. Only until early next week to wait - allegedly

but will it be a viable option over the 6870 lets say, because that is what I have been looking at lately

should be about the same and perhaps/probably faster - and certainly cooler - basic specs are widely leaked in terms of cores/memory - just not the fine details like being the first official 1GHz GPU. Likely very overclockable too.

mmm what I am thinking of

I know it isn't a great GPU, but I doubt it will be as powerful as a 6950 as that is what the 7850/7870 will be running at more or likely.

I will see what money I have when it comes out.

It will be running along side my Athlon Quad until summer when I can afford an X6. I am a little out of the loop, but an X6, overclock it, will be right up my street

right at the bottom of the site in small print states and even in the code it states:

Every herein, is completely fake.

Sounds dodgy to me.

May not be real.

6870 and even the 6850 will still be faster from the specs and benchmarks I've seen. Like the 5770/6770 the 7770 is going to be stunted by the use of a 128 bit memory interface. It has a few more stream processors, 896 compared to the 5770/6770s 800, and a faster core which will at least give it a slight bump in performance over its predecessors, but it's certainly not going to beat them by a massive margin. With a budget of £140 I'd be keeping my eye out in the MM for second hand 6950s/560Tis which can be had for around this sort of price range.
