Running a 7700x in a squads gaming system and I've been told disabling SMT can help boost performance.
ive been told this is because the game only runs on 1 or 2 cores and disabling SMT will stop windows running programs on the same 2 threads of a single core.

i think this is total crap but also want to give it a go

let say the game is running on threads 1 and 3 so cores 1 and 2, windows should run background crap on different threads if it picks 2 and 4 it would be still using cores 1 and 2.
what do you think anything behind this ?

asus motherboard if that helps

Sounds like nonsense to me. AMD have put a lot of effort into helping the Windows scheduler do its thing since chiplets and IO dies came out, so unless Microsoft have totally **** the bed again and broken something, I doubt you'd get resource conflicts as insane as what you describe.
