Looking to build a new PC and im currently pricing everything up. Whats AMDs equivalent chip to the i5 2500k ?

Ummm, there ain't any, honest. Buy a i5 2500K.

That, sadly. Tis why I just moved from PhenomII to i5.

Look at it this way: you get what you pay for, and there's a reason AMD chips are cheaper than an i5.

You can build a perfectly solid and stable PC out of them (assuming you don't fall into the Bulldozer trap) but you can't have a cheap AMD system that is as good as an Intel build that costs more.

Might I suggest you give the chaps here a budget, a target use for the PC, and any special requirements (e.g. do you really really want 16gb memory, etc) and let them see what they can figure out for you?

if you buy an 8 core FX it will only be better in very specific multi-threaded applications. In the real world, no processor from AMD beats the 2500k.
