AMD Introduces Radeon 5600 Xt 279 USD

You can get reference RX5700 cards for £285 now,and there were deals on aftermarket ones for close to £300.

$279 equates to £255 with VAT included,so this looks like AMD trying to shore up the price of the RX5700.

Also the GTX1660 Super which starts at £180 is essentially a GTX1660TI in performance.

I am very underwhelmed.

I'm struggling to find a 5700 for under £300?

You can but its a reference card. Also plenty of deals on aftermarket cards for close to £300.

I hope the £255 RX5600XT cards are good ones, not the crappy ones, otherwise we will see aftermarket RX5600XT card straight into RX5700 territory.

Plus it needs to be at least 40% faster than the GTX1660 Super which starts at £180,for it to not be worse value for money.

I need to catch up on GPU's and prices etc as I actually wouldn't mind a reference 5700 for £255 with a Bios switch I would attempt to Bios flash it... hmm I'll have to have a look around

honestly... keep this one.. close my speculation thread.

Finally watching the stream. It barely beats the 1660ti (AMD quoted 10%)... which is already being encroached on by the 1660 super.. for wayyyyy less.

Am i missing something here?

If you are considering the 1660ti... you buy the 5700... so.... considering a 5600... buy the 5700...surely?

It doesn't even matter, because they've been selling £250 5700s for over a month and since Black Friday til Xmas. No one who was interested in a £250 GPU was waiting for a 5600 instead of a 5700 (and no doubt will be seen for that price again). The only question for the 5600 is, how much is it really going to be & when.

I just don't understand why they prices it against the sea product the 1660 ti. The super version killed that off for 50ish less. The only reason is to try and make the 5600 xt look better value imo. And to take a comment from another member on here from a couple of days ago, the suspicion is to help prop up prices for the other cards in the 5x00 series.

Sure, there will be special deals, eventually but right now the pricing is so bizarre.

I never thought I would be critical of AMD like I have been since the 5500 release. Just the strange pricing policy has me baffled.

I wonder if overclocking will be it's saving grace. (Even though I still think it is 29 dollars too high a price)
