Hi all,

I am looking at getting a AMD computer but I have no idea where to start as I have always had an Intel

if any1 could give me some advice that would be great

Thanks

I have a budget of around 2grand and I will be using it for gaming
i take it that's for the pc only, not including monitor. Do you know what case you like the look of..small/medium/large..do you want lots of rgb? For £2k you should be able to get a 3080 in that, if you can get it close to msrp..think some other forum members paid just over £1k for a 3080ti i was reading earlier. How quick do you need it?

Do aesthetics matter to you at all? For 2k you can get pretty much top spec gaming PC if you don't care for aesthetics
to a point, yes, otherwise you might as well go for a pre build. Aesthetics doesn't necessarily mean huge cost, but if you want a small form factor case, you'll be looking at micro ATX mobo..if you want to overclock you'll probably be looking at a case with higher airflow...if you want to put water cooling in future and you haven't done it before, maybe a bigger case with more room. each to their own, that's the beauty of building your own pc. 2k just gives you more choice

Focus on finding a GPU first and then buy the rest, a 3080FE or even a 3080ti FE should be doable with that budget.

Just get a pre built pc. Getting hold of a graphics card right now is a nightmare.

For £2k you'll get a nice pre built with decent graphics card and warranty over whole pc.

I literally wouldn't build my own system at the moment.

For a lot of people though its the enjoyment of building, I personally will never buy a prebuilt because I enjoy the process of building a PC and making it my own

As for the op's question though there are many options, for your budget you could get quite a nice build, board wise your looking at b550 or x570, ram you want DDR4 3600 and then a Ryzen 5 5600x or higher, pair that with a 3080 or higher and you will have a very nice system

There is no enjoyment in building a pc to not be able to get a GPU or pay literally tripple RRP, to the point where buying a pre built would be cheaper, and also actually have a chance to get a GPU.

Under normal market conditions I don't disagree with you, but the GPU market is completely FUBAR.

Dunno I think I still disagree with you, I've had a fun time buying n selling GPU's trying to get what I want lol, luckily managed to grab a 3080FE this morning though :D

I agree but £2k right now doesn't really give you much of a choice. Actually building your own PC right now isn't a great idea unless you already got hold of a GPU, otherwise you'll just have a case full of parts sitting there without a video card. £2k would get you a watercooled 3080 and 5900x, but that would be really tough to build right now.
