AMD MANTLE DEVELOPER VIDEO 44 mins

I think you'll find most people are actually waiting for hard numbers by one of the review sites :)

I'm interested but it clearly isn't what it's hyped to be.
If it was AMD would have published some numbers and graphs resulting in selling more cards.

If it's as good as they say, they are missing out on sales

I think litecoins are getting them enough sales

Very true this. I was and still am very noobish on this mining but seeing so many people snapping up 7950's for mining. Not sure that Mantle will help with these complex math equations though :p

I think they have already said performance could be increased by 20-50%. You can't really put a number on mantle as one developer may use it to good effect and another may use a few of its capabilities to a much lower effect. Its not a case of if you use mantle you will get a percentage increase of X amount. There is also nothing out atm using mantle so i am not sure how they could show any numbers. Bf4 will be the first case of a finished mantle game and we can see how it stacks up. Even if bf4 shows massive gains using mantle you can't then assume this is what will happen in all games that use mantle as if the developers use mantle well the performance gains could be bigger and on the other foot if used only a little then performance gains would be less.

im interested for sure

Of course it isn't from your pov, your rocking Nvidia, there for zero hype.:p

The general amount of negativity from Nvidia users is astounding tbh, though it is to be expected as 'it's rubbish'(despite no evidence) because initially you can't have it without changing vendor.

That goes both ways in regards to PhysX, the amount of hate directed to the actual tech instead of its employment is quite pathetic tbph.

I'm not being negative because I own an Nvidia card.
I'm a gamer so anything that makes games better (mantle, physx, stress fx, g-sync) is a good thing.

All I'm saying is there is a lack of any solid information.
With all other techs the companies have brought out we have seen tech demos, graphs, proper figures etc. Even a quick real time sequence rendered in D3D and also in mantle so we can see the fps difference would be accepted. Hell, when a new graphics card comes out both AMD and Nvidia make a tech demo. Where is a tech demo for mantle showcasing the extra performance?

To me it looks like they have announced something but again are not delivering. The whole thing is behind a smoke screen. Surely if it was that good they'd be showcasing it & gaining sales off the back of it already

What better way to showcase mantle than in one of the biggest game releases of the year ie bf4. There is no smoke and mirrors they have given us all the information they currently have and we will see the numbers this month when its patched into bf4. Tech demo's are usually fun to watch but bear no relation for the most part to today's game performance or what is currently doable in today's games. I much prefer the way tressfx was handled as it was pretty much demoed in tomb raider and mantle will be pretty much the same in bf4.

But if it's that good why haven't we seen performance videos, etc yet?

Think that's what he's getting at.

well seeing as BF4 is a bit of a mess, its got a lot better than when it was first released id give till say january after theyve patched up anything theyve missed/got wrong to post some numbers for mantle but it is true that tech demos are all meh and dont show true game performance. best to see it in action and tress fx was awesome on laras hair, looked so real.

Showcase what, faster frame rates. They have said what it will do and we will see when it is implemented. Still the 780 bit in the sig give it away

Because they haven't finished implementing it fully, why would they release unfinished performance videos? Just to appease a contingent of skeptics who'd then criticise them for not waiting til they'd finished implementation.

Where would you have them pull these performance video's from. It's an api for game developers to use to make games. There are no games currently finished using mantle so any performance numbers or video's would not be representative of the final dx or mantle versions (excluding bf4 dx version). I don't get why people can't just wait for it to be patched into bf4. It's a little like saying we have no performance figures for the 20nm gpu's so they must be crap. It's been said ever since they first talked about mantle that we would see what it can do in bf4 in december.
