I think the memory conntroller has gone on my x2 550 - I don't actually know if this is possible.
Out of the four slots on my mb, A1 B1 A2 B2, i can only boot if memory is in A1 or A2 or both, This results in single channel operation.
Question is, is it a cpu or mb problem, I'm assuming cpu as the controller is on board, but any advice would be appreciated as I don't want to replace the cpu with an x4 955 if I am still going to have the same problem.
If I have to replace both I may be better waiting for Bulldozer to see what that does to prices.
Another question is how much noticable difference does dual as opposed to single channel ram actually make.
