Cry me a river

Nvidia is no longer in the console business, but for some reason the company decided to make a point about low margins in the console industry. Nvidia insists there’s not much money to be made in console chips, which require plenty of time and effort to develop.
However, AMD doesn’t share its position. The chipmaker is now the sole provider of custom console processors with integrated graphics and still believes the console market should be aggressively pursued.

Speaking with Gaming Bolt, AMD lead for gaming Robert Hallock said Nvidia’s position “seems a bit like sour grapes.”

“The reality, according to industry legends like John Carmack (citation), is that the standardization of console hardware will, in his words, ‘make it cheaper and easier to develop games for multiple platforms’,” he said. “That will improve the quality of games as devs spend time polishing them, rather than juggling architectural particulars.”

Nvidia though it would be better to start making mobile chips than waste time on low-margin console parts – and we all know how well that’s going.

Ok?

This is a flamebait post and has absolutely no point.

We have enough mud slinging in GC already, why post mudslinging between AMD and nVidia themselves that will just atrtact more of it here?

RTM for close.
