AMD moving to a LGA CPU socket.

I always wondered why people found LGA sockets scary? I've never known anyone have a problem with them, just line it up, pull the pin down.

I found a old 1st gen i7 in the bottom of my tool box, amongst screw drivers, plyers, screws nails and a load of other junk! It must have been there for years. Dropped it into a motherboard I had laying around and it works!! There was also a old athlon in there with a load of bent pins!

I have built a fair few computers in my time but i have never bent a pin.

I did screw an iPhone 3 repair up once, snapped the home button contact off. But fixed it with tinfoil and super glue.:p

I’m not sure what I’d prefer. I suppose if AM5 has an increased pin out, then pins in the socket might be the way to go as the pins on AM4 are tiny enough…

I’d think AM5 motherboards will be slightly more expensive though.
