AMD "Never Settle" 12.11 Driver - benchmarks

Disabled, tried everything, but nothing gets as smooth as other games.

Seems to be a very common issue with the EE of TW2, so I'm probably worrying over nothing.

As it stands, D3DOverrider with vsync and triple buffering gives the best results, slightly less choppy than any frame-rate limiter amount I have tried.

With MSI Afterburner 2.3.0. and a frame lock of 59 is smooth for me, confirmed also by the frametime in OSD, rock solid on it's value. I played without bloom, blur and DoF, because I don't like them so much, but as long as your rig can keep up that high frame rate, all is fine. BF 3, Skyrim, TW 2, Mafia 2, Sleeping Dogs, they've never been such a pleasure to play. :)

Ok with the 120Hz "solved" (only seems to work with multi monitor, regardless of 2D clocks), my only issue that is bugging me now is that 9 times out of 10 when my monitor sleeps and comes back on i have lost monitoring of the graphics card. Voltages show as 0mv and the fan speed is screwed up. Also, i am unable to change any overclock settings.

I think this is a GPU Tweak issue though, but it's hard to tell as i can't overclock with other software and doesn't seem to happen at stock... lol.
Curse you ASUS, i curse you into oblivion!! lol.

So just to rule out/narrow down the issue. Doesn't anyone else experience any issues after monitor sleep recovery?

This, been using it since day 1 with this game, avoiding most of the stuttering. Make sure you allow GPU render ahead 1 as well. Its as smooth as you can get it. Minor hitching still occurs but i think its a game issue rather than driver related.

For best results disable any frame limiters as well, just adds more stutter in this game.

I haven't been keeping up with your problems but have you tried disabling ULPS?

I'm not advocating using beta's in general, but the 12.11 beta's are beta's where AMD have really upped there game and delivered the performance.

Remember to install the latest cap files too.

Got my 7950 yesterday is worth updating to these drivers or not? Currently using Drivers suuplied with Graphics card

Use the latest betas!

One of the first things i tried tbh, even though it's only meant to affect crossfire setups.

This is what i'm confronted with after resume from monitor sleep.

I see well tbh i never use sleep and disable it. I leave my pc on all day but have all power saving features turned on on my cpu/gpu and at idle my pc only uses about 70watts which is light bulb territory.

One thing that i have come to realize is my Gigabyte 7870 does not like voltage unlocking with later versions of MSI AB.

BF3, Farcry3, even Mech-worrior online i get random BSOD if the voltage is unlocked on 12.10 and 12.11.

I have been playing a lot without MSI AB voltage unlocking for more than a week and it has been absolutely solid on 12.11, perfect. Not put a foot wrong at all....

Something in MSI AB is causing issues with my GPU, if others are having Hardlock / BSOD issues i suggest you consider MSI AB.

I never get that with TRIXX....

I keep my PC on pretty much all the time too and never sleep it, but the monitors i do. I have 3 and they can use a lot of electricity and i don't want the backlights to burn out for quite a few years yet lol.

Good point, my mistake didn't read your posts properly.

I use afterburner and have my monitor set to sleep after 10 minutes idle time. It sleeps maybe 10 times a day and i never encounter the problems you mention. :)

Stick with the drivers you have, 12.10 should only be used by 69/68xx or older cards.

ok

but when i paly far cry 3, when running around once every 5 mins or so, i notice that the ground, walls etc in sections have not loaded up fast as the rest of the screen and look slighty blurred/not quite right, but i can not remember it doing it on the 12.10 drivers??
