Hi all, had a XB271HU and 980Ti which played everything I wanted perfectly but had to sell them off before Christmas for a holiday. Now looking to buy back a similar setup.

I've been looking at a couple of monitors specifically the Agon AG322QCX. My only concern is the lack of and prices of AMD cards that can power it. Does AMD have something similar to the 980Ti as I don't really want to pay for a Vega 56.

My other option would be to get another Acer XB271HU/Dell S2716DG or and a second hand 980Ti.

Are AMD/Nvidia planning to release anything soon? I will most likely buy the monitor first which will decide the GPU, I'm not fussed with Free/G sync.

Thanks

For the foreseeable future G-Sync 1440p and a 980ti-1080 look like the best bet.

I'm using a Dell S2716DG and GTX1070 combo and works pretty well - though the monitor has gone up in price a pretty big amount since I bought :( 1070s are coming back down towards launch prices at the moment though.

Do this imo, and I hope you got a really good price for your old kit!!

AMD are gonna be next year, possibly H2 and nVidia should have some new cards coming in a few months.

Nah, 980Ti sold for £270. Similar to what I'd be paying now!
The monitor went for £400 and will cost £550 new now.

This is what I'm thinking too. There are some cracking Freesync monitors but no cards to power them!

I have a GTX 760 now which is Gsync enabled. I could buy the monitor and make Gsync work for it's worth until the new gen comes out.

I went from 980Ti to 1080Ti for 1440p/60, just wanted a cooler, quieter system with better minimums. 980Ti/1440p was the sweet spot, but then games started appearing that were not optimised.

I figured this reply is better in here than in the freesync owners thread; if it were me, looking at recent history on GPU prices, i would stump up the extra for a gsync monitor, because over time it is looking like nvidia offer the better price/performance and a monitor will last you through a number of upgrade cycles

Having had gsync, i wouldnt want to go back to non-sync, so getting an nvidia gpu with a freesync monitor seems like the worst option personally

Indeed. Thanks for replying. My previous setup was the sweet spot. Gsync it is
Now to decide between the S2716DG and XB271HU!
Not sure if I'm feeling lucky with IPS this time around :D

Of the 2 manufacturers I would go with Dell over Acer
you might want to remove reference to non-OCUK pricing though

Removed now, think it's OK as long as no competitors are mentioned but just to be safe :D
That 3 year advanced warranty really is enticing but then IPS colours :(

Yeah, I learnt my lesson on another thread. :D Live and learn.

But yeah, second hand 980ti or a 1070 for 1440p 60fps for now until we hear some news concerning new Nvidia GPUs.
