Right ive got £260 to spend on a new cpu, which would be my best choice please, the X2 4400 im interested in is CCBWE 0532UPMW

and i dont have a clue how the opterons are clocking,

Any advice would be excellent, Many Thanks :)

If your board can hit 280HTT or higher (FSB) then get the 165.
I have one myself, and it is not even the best stepping, and I run 2.63ghz 24/7 at 1.4v with the stock cooler. Idle temp around 29c and heavy load 44c.
I am EXTREMELY happy with this purchase. Best piece of PC hardware ever bought. It is basically an FX60 :D
The 165 opterons for sale now have been performing very well for peeps over at xtremesystems.org. You will easily hit 2.2ghz which is the speed of the X2 4400, and likely clock way past FX60 speeds with the opty.
However, the X2 4400 is £330 and the 165 opteron is £260 ;)

Imo a no-brainer.

I can't name any places, but lets just say that buying from the US will save you a budle in this case.... They aren't as rare over there, and come with AMD warranty, so you don't have to send them back to the US, just the UK AMD office.
Put it this way. I have 2 opteron 144's that cost me £90 and two opteron 165's that cost me £180 each. Can't beat that in the UK... :D

Add me to msn please :P

I would be very interested in talking with you, about american banana's overcourse, nothing to do with cpu's ;)
