AMD or Intel Dual Core?

Buying a laptop and I need some CPU advice. Is there any difference between an AMD Turion and Intel Core 2 Duo of the same spec?

Go for Core2Duo..
with the same specs C2D will be faster in most tasks..

That was my first instinct. What's wrong with AMD?

also C2D consume less energy so your battery should work longer.

Nothing wrong with AMD its just not as powerful as C2D it also has less L2 cache memory(1MB AMD, 4MB INTEL) but should be considerably cheaper.

The point about battery life is a good one. Max power on a laptop is ususally not a big concern.

nout wrong with turion. mine runs 3ish hours off full charge, and is 3 or 4 years old, so on power there won't be much in it. raw performance then C2D, if performance not issue then AMD turionX2's are fine

AMD setup is cheaper and not that much slower, and on power saving a amd's turion x2 RM-74 only draws 35watts and a intel's comparason is the same 35watts.
