I have the AMD 955be overclocked at 3.9 ghz

Im thinking of moving to intel

Would it be worth it to move to a 2500k?

I use the machine mainly for gaming. (1920x1080)

At the moment i have the 560ti twin frzr II

Would i see any increase in peformance? or should i stick with the 955be?

Thanks

yeh no point would be microscopic differences as your cpu will not be bottlenecking a 560ti.

Could always go piledriver if its good when it comes out. would be a cheaper upgrade

Not really, his CPU is already bottlenecking his GTX560Ti in most games (particularly in those that use less than four cores...which accounts for 90%+ of the games). And if rumour about Piledriver is just a "higher clocked Bulldozer with slight IPC increase" was true, then don't expect it to be as great for gaming as what Intel is offering.

a 955be @ 3.9ghz won't be bottlenecking a single 560ti.

my 1075t at 3.6ghz only slightly bottlenecks my sli 570's. I still get heaven at ultimate 63fps all I5's with my gpu's are getting 72.

If you have the money and can comfortably spend it, then go for it.

I made the jump a couple of weeks ago from a 1055T to a 3570K and it massively improved my playing experience in games like Shogun 2 and Battlefield 3. But then I am using it with a 680GTX so I was probably seeing more of a bottleneck with my AMD CPU, so you may not see the massive jump that I did.

What games do you play?

+1

580, 670, 680 or SLI i would say yes deffo upgrade to intel massive improvements.

GPU Benchmarking tools won't show CPU bottleneck...as they don't really stress CPU at all and can get GPU usage to 99% at all time...unlike games. If you are happy with your system good for you, but the truth is you don't realise there is a bottleneck even when it is rubbing in your face, as you have not used a faster platform to compare it with. Have a look at mattius's thread:

If you EVER care to try to upgrade to a overclocked Sandy or Ivy i5, you would realise the 1075T at 3.6GHz is not just bottling SLI GTX570 a "little" in games.

If what you are running is fine ATM,I would wait and see what is available in the next year. Hopefully, the second generation of 28NM graphics card will be better value for money too,so you can upgrade both your CPU and graphics card at the same time.

You'd be bottleneck in average/minimum frame rates that's for sure.
I'd upgrade my CPU etc before my GPU as current 28nm offers horrendous value imo.

Ivy and a PCI-E 3.0 set up (Since they go hand in hand)
Or wait for haswell and do Haswell/PD and a GPU.

His current setup will still play games fine with a small bottleneck on his graphics card in some games, but surely it would still be a nice (and fairly substantial) upgrade going for a Sandy/Ivy quad? This would noticeably push up his minimum frame rate and smooth out his average frame rate a little while future proofing for the next 2/3 years if he overclocks.

Add my vote to the wait for haswell camp. Have it be a more substantial jump.
You will see a benefit with a i2/3 gen but its nothing gamechanging.
