AMD Or Intel

Hi, i have a spec with a:-

Core 2 duo E2180
Gigabyte P35 DS3 with DDR2 and DDR3
and 2 gig of corsair ram

I am just wondering whether this is the best route as i want to keep it as cheap as possible. At this price if i am not going to be overclocking (I wouldnt have a clue and i am not too fussed about games and benchmarks etc).

So at this price point would AMD offer a similar sort of performance in some games and general speed using windows.

Im just not sure about what to do. Could you spec the cheapest possible ram, mobo, and cpu that i could get from intel that would be as fast as the amd at stock. Then maybe i will try overclocking later.

300 is the maximum i would like to spend on the computer.

Onboard graphics or cheap graphics card will do.
