general question to all,
what made you choose and why ?
what is your current speed with what cooler?

for a new £500-600+ build intel for sure

if your on a v. limited budget amd still offer good performance

my next upgrade will be an intel one unless things change

Intel, Quad at 3.2ghz and E6750 @3.4ghz

Chosen because of the overclocking potential and lower wattage of C2D over athlons new chips

intel 2160 cos i was promised bang for buck i am still waiting to see...

personally, i wish i had taken the 5000+ BE... amd has done me proud for a long time...

I bought an AMD 2 years ago, but are currently building INTEL systems for mates. I'll be moving across to Intel for my next one. Best Mhz for the £ and great over clocking potential.

unfortunatly the new amd chips don't oc as well as the c2d but I think 8500 is certainly not worth almost a hundred pounds more than the 6400BE so it cant claim bang for buck there imho as for the quad core most peeps that follow the trends are ditching their quads because they dont fully utilise them and get better results with the newer chips ,

Intel for sure. £160 for a Q6600 that's currently running at 3.8 (not finished overclocking yet) just can't be beaten by AMD. I used AMD for years from a K6/350 to an X2 3800, but when I changed to an E6600 last year and had it easily running at 3.6, I knew that Intel was the right choice :)

Majority of these people are the same people that will buy the new Quads over the next few months.

Anyone that is looking to buy a cpu for a gaming machine to last over a year should go quad. Games are now starting to utilise quad cores (e.g. UT3), although not full yet.
