AMD or Intel?

I'm new to the PC building business, and I'm currently planning my next rig. One thing I'm not too sure on is to use an AMD processor or an Intel C2D (or quadcore). One big thing I noticed was price, with the Black Edition 2.70GHz priced at 80 notes and AM2 motherboards being cheaper than Intel boards. What's the big difference? Why do the majority of the forum favour Intel builds?

Sorry if my questions are stupid or if I've missed anything obvious. Cheers lads.

intel is big on here because AMD dropped the ball about 2 years ago and let intel slip the Core 2 Duos on the market (which are and overclockers dream at a really reasonable price) without a worthwhile challenge, AMD is supposedly hitting back hard with the Phenom II this year though, but i'd say if you wanted a quality PC at a low price that can be overclocked then intel C2D/Q is your best bet

Yes as others have said, intel C2D or C2Q because they can be overclocked to the models above them quite easily so you effectively get an upgrade for nothing. Also, the average mobo supporting an AMD cpu is not as good as the average mobo supporting an intel cpu.

That shows the 7750 in a very good light, overlcocks particularly well too.

I've seen anything on air from 3.3 to 3.8GHz around the web.
