I currently own a M2N-SLi Deluxe mobo, and was wondering, wether it was worth ditching and going Intel, E8xxx or Q6600...or i7...

or is it better upgrading my AMD X2 6000+ to a Phenom II?

I'm afraid if you decide to upgrade to Phenom 2 that you would need a new motherboard as well. What do you use your PC for?

Phenom 2 is a very good option now though with the price drops.

I have to say that for the first time in 3 or 4 years I'm looking at an AMD system again. The latest price drops, plus the better availability of SLi on AMD motherboards would nudge me down that route for a gaming system at the moment.

Gaming, a lot, and i thought my board was AM2+ aswell, thats what the box and website says :S

The M2N-SLi Deluxe is an AM2 motherboard which can take the Original Phenom CPUs which are AM2+ but it would only run them at HT1 speeds which tbh is no big issue as it makes little difference, I'm afraid there is no support for the Phenom 2s and I can't see them releasing a Bios to support it.

Here is a list of Asus AM3 / AM2+ 45nm (Phenom 2) Compatible Motherboards:

I'm afraid yours is not listed.

I think that Phenom 2 is still a good upgrade option however, it would save you purchasing new ram if nothing else... Unless you were to wait until the AM3 CPUs are released :)
