I have a radeon 6970m 2gb in my laptop...and i noticed you can overclock the card using the amd overdrive feature.

Is it worth doing so in terms of fps perofrmance on games? is it safe to do?

core speed is 680mhz but will go up to 800mhz

memory speeds 900mhz but will go up to 1000mhz

Also there are some settings for the fan speed...the default is at 30.

thanks

If the option is there it could be considered 'safe' but remember that OC'ing may void your warranty and damage the card. If you have not done it before check online for guides there is plenty that give a detailed explanation on how to do it.

In overdrive (for me anyway) I have to click an accept button before it leaves me change anything, read this to see if it would void your warranty (if there is any). The OC you're talking about is nearly a 20/11% increase in clock speed you might get a 5-7% increase in actual FPS.

Oc'ing is safe, but ONLY if you know what you are doing, laptop parts can get extremely hot so whatever you may try, keep the fans up. I won't be held liable for anything you break! lol.

If you are adamant on trying it out research the guides online and if there is something else you need clarification on or other advice, feel free to ask.

if you have one of those laptop coolers under your laptop , you can try it.

and if u have msi afterburner to monitor temperatures and make a custom fan profile.
