Hey guys so I am building my first PCwhich I planned for a few months, and whether are any adjustments I need to make. Budget(not going with Intel i5 route) is around £400 mark now, and I already have the HD6870 as the GFX and Mid-sized gaming Case with front LED fan and DVD Drive, have Mouse and 26"TV monitor. No plans to go CF for now which is why Im getting the cheaper board also have Wins 7. 64bit.

I am a bit worried about the Network Card(does that fit into the PCI E x1 slot, GFX goes into X16?) as well as if I have the sufficient PSU cable, SATA cables etc neededto run PC? and is 1600mhz RAM compatible with CPU and Mobo? Here it is

Firstly, it all works and is compatible etc, the network card does indeed go into a 1X slot with your 6870 in the 16X slot.

Is your DVD drive SATA?

The main concern is with the height of the Vengeance RAM maybe getting in the way of the Gelid cooler, try some low profile stuff,

Thx Stulid, Yeh the Vengeance RAM looks quite big. Do these XMS 3 works just as well as them?. I have checked the DVD drive and there is a four pin( I think is for power) and a ribbon cable(black connector to DVD and Blue to motherboard) so is that SATA? o and I plan to overclock CPU and RAM so no problem?

Cheers

The XMS works just as well:)

Your DVD drive sounds like a IDE, does the cable look like this,

Yes that is the cable its much slower isn't it? , should I upgrade as Im planning to use Blu ray anyway

I've have pushed total to about £400 mark, Does any1 know if the Xigmatek Orange 120mm is a gd fan for the back, Is it enough to keep the whole system cool?

thxs

Another thing I would want to know is the sound is it through onboard? Can I use the GFX's HDMI and the sound would come through that and into monitor speaker??

I'd say yes, as you have an intake fan, that will act as an exhaust fan. Will keep it nice and cool.

Is there any reason you've gone for a 750W PSU? i'd say you only need between 500W-600W. Can save a bit of money there.

Otherwise; as long as the RAM issue is sorted; it looks good.

Brilliant, I've gone for 750 PSU as it has gone down, and for the near future I might be go crossfire. I'm also thinking still if it is possible to take the big heat spreaders off the Vengeance if the Gelid cooler is in the way? as I don't really wanna go over the budget?

This is the case its going in: Envizage E-6691 Black Silver ATX Gaming PC Tower Case
Does any1 know if the Samsung F3 HDD is an 2.5" or 3.5" in size? sorry for all the questions :)

Might be worth getting a retail Blu-ray player so you get the bundled software for playing movies.
F3 is 3.5"

Ok thats great for the HDD, I already have the Blu ray software on Disc which should'nt be a problem, thx though :). So is there any more things I need to look out for lol? don't wanna have any mistakes after I order.

Does any1 know if the 3 pins come with the Xitmatek fan? I think its all good now, does any1 know what time the weekly deals end?

cheers

Ok thx mp gonna switch from OCZ to Lepa B :), @Geeman So can the 3-pin go right onto the motherboard or would I need like some converter cables or sumit lol?

The front fan is on the right side, it came with the external USB,Reset and power cables to go on motherboard. It also says its for Micro/ATX so no problem for mobo?

Here is the measurment for the fan about 80mm X 80mm will it fit??

have a look at the Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB) memory currently £37.99 inc VAT and doesn't have the big heat spreaders.

unless you have the software go with a retail version of the blue ray drive.

if theres a gap in the case for a 120mm fan you could buy a 80mm to 120mm convertor.

thx dude, already have blu-ray software, and I'll go with the ballastic sport(can that be overclocked to about 1800mhz?) to be on the safe side with the Gelid. Can you link me to an 80mm to 120mm convertor??
