The last "FX" system was an Athlon.

Does the FX mean that we will be able to put 2 phenom-FX CPUs on the same board?

So could this mean octo-core?

FX used to just be there high end chip, which had an unlocked multi. But now that the black edition has that, we'll have to see if they have bought in something new.

Yes, but only in the X4 system with the FX-68, FX-70 and FX-72.

Thats what I garner from the wiki and from having the last of the 939 systems

The 4x4 systems were basically rebaged 2-way Opterons that let you use standard DDR2 RAM.

yes as people weren't willing to pay extra for 2 cpu coolers, 2 lots of memory, 2 cpu's etc
