Hello guys, ive been scratching my head for a while about upgrading my cpu, i recently managed to buy a HIS radeon hd 6950 cheap off a mate so now i need to upgrade my phenom ii x2 555 cpu for obvious reasons. I can stretch upto £150 for an upgrade (ive found the x6 1100t for this price) im going to be using the pc for gaming so can anyone shine some light on whether i should just spend the money and get the best i can afford or could i get away with buying a quad core for £100 and not seeing that much of a difference? Thanks! :p

The 1100T has gone up massively in price, I guess they are in demand since Bulldozer...

I bought mine from OCUK for £118 + VAT in October, I see they are now £183 + VAT. What a shocker !

when did they go up to £220 ? , i paid £149.99 not so long ago from ocuk

Well the 960T with a mild mulitplier overclock is probably all you need for gaming. You probably won't see much benefit from a six core in the short to medium term. If you do go 6 core, then 1090T can be bought for £130 incl VAT

Damm your lucky mine wont unlock on my asus sabortooth 990fx mobo:(.

Strange as I thought they would all unlock but whether they are stable as x6 is the key. I have used a 760/870 & 880 board all with success although my 870 board is the only one overclocked.
