AMD Phenom II Quad vs 6 Core

Using it for gaming, spec as follows:

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990FX AMD

Memory: Corsair XMS3 16GB DDR3

Processor: Waiting to buy a Bulldozer but may consider getting a AMD Phenom II in the meantime

Case: HAF X

Cooling: Coolermaster V10

HDs: 1 SSD 2 Hybrids and a 1tb sata 3

I am planning on getting a BD but I want something to do me in the mean time so I'm not sat without a PC.

Thank you everyone for the advice so far.

Quad then. No need for 6 cores as there are very few games that use them, though if you really want to buy now, an intel Sandy setup is better for the money.

If you are planning on doing a BIOS upgrade to run BD later, it is not confirmed this will work 100% yet.

(I am hoping for this myself as have a Phenom II 965 x 4 & Corsshair IV)

Can I be extremely dense and ask you to explain what you mean by this? I'm not too familiar with Upgrading BIOS or what you achieve by doing it, so I wasn't sure what you meant in this post.

I'm willing to consider anything that will run quicker than the 980 I suggested. What sort of Sandy bridge set up would do that?
