So i had this CPU not to long ago but only got a 3rd party cooler a week ago

All i want is around 3.6Ghz OC or even maybe 3.8Ghz Depends on Temps

Well anywayz i been having problems :(

When i try and OC it is not stable
im new to a quad core and Overclocking
Last CPU i had was a AMD x2 3800+

which is totaly different to what i have now obv :S
so im abit :S

I think most of the unstable is coming from my ram which are
RAM

My Mobo is
MoBo

And obv i have the AMD x2 965 3.4Ghz

Right if i leave everything how they are and not mess with BIOS
my CPU Volt is 1.45v

But my ram Runs at 1066Mhz :S and CPU-z says it
Max Bandwidth is 533Mhz?
but the Part number is OCZ3OB1600LV2G
and says Voltage at 1.5v

But on OC they say 1.65V but when ever i set them to 1600Mhz and 9,9,9,24 with 1.65v my system is unstable :S i tryed them at 1.6v but didn't work to.

Atm im running at 3.6Ghz 200x18 memory at 1600Mhz 9,9,924 but in BIOS i left Both there Voltages to AUTO and normally after a while my PC just crashes or normally after i restart my BIOS says can not run Overclock set.

im gettin  because i brought
CPU cooler

Just to keep my CPU cool so i could OC and it is just not working :(
I ran memtest when Ram was running at 1066Mhz and it didn't find any errors im going run it now which 1600Mhz. i quickly ran prime95 *for around 10 mins* and my CPU was going around 45c i just rly wanted to check because the last few times i tryed OC as soon as i ran prime95 my PC crashed or it crashes just after loadup of windows 7 when it says please wait and the windows logo shows it crashes half way though that.

So any got any ideas?
or anyone with this board or ram?

The Phenom's memory controller only officially supports a maximum of 1333Mhz memory, anything above that is considered overclocking and will either not work or require extra volts to remain stable.

Im new so that means?
i will need to do what to keep my ram runing at 1600Mhz?

It means that your CPU hasn't been designed to support 1600Mhz memory, your memory and motherboard may support it but the memory controller fitted inside the CPU is limited to 1333Mhz maximum.

You can try to overclock it beyond 1333Mhz but you're probably better off just running it at 1333Mhz on low volts and try to tighten the timings.

oooo thanks
but :(
abit silly of me buyin it then i just wanted be 1 better then my friend xD

Would anything happen if i just carry on running at 1600Mhz?
or could i run at 1333Mhz but then OC my CPU to make the Ram run faster?
Even it out or would it make any difference?

You said it became unstable at 1600Mhz? that's about what will happen.

The raw speed isn't that important anyway you should try running at 1333Mhz at lower latency timings, eg. 8-8-8-24 or 7-7-7-24 if possible.

it does and it doesn't :S
It will run sometimes mostly when i don;t set the Volt i have to leave it on Auto :S
im running atm at 1600Mhz at 3.6Ghz but i have only not long set it.. so it could crash
So im going so a few tests to see if it is

And if it is stable i know for some reason when i set the Volt to my ram at 1.60v or 1.64v it just crashes my system

And if it is not ill try what you said and run at 1333Mhz :)!
So im going do a few tests now so im going check back 2moz and post whats happened :)!

1333MHz is recommended, so run it at that and i think the max voltage is 1.425.

Well right i been using this at 3.6Ghz
18x200
And ram at 1600Mhz 9,9,9,24
No crashes or problems :)!
so it seems to only crash when i set the Voltages myself :S:S
i use the Volt what is said at 1.65V i even tryed at 1.6V

Is there anyway to see what the voltage is set for the ram in windows?
or in bios
apart from what it set as AUTO

download AMD overdrive that will let you change everthing i used it and change the multiplier to 18 the cup valtage to 1.3875 and run it stable at 3.612GHz
