AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition

Guys...it doesn't make a difference in overclocking, it just has an unlocked multiplier allowing you to overclock more.

It helps you overclock higher when the motherboard isn't willing to hit higher base HTT speeds but in reality it does make things easier too, especially for a novice. When overclocking solely by means of the CPU Multiplier, all other variables such as the DRAM Frequency, Northbridge Frequency and Hypertransport Frequency won't require monitoring as they stay pretty much the same. While one would want to look into tampering with those variables later, at least it takes a number of factors out of the equation initially, which does make things easier.

yes it does make a difference in overclocking. not all motherboards can do high fsb, so having a BE chip you can balance the overclock between the fsb and multplier.
