AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Vs Intel Core i7 2600K For 3D rendering

What system do you have now?
I also use 3ds max/rhino + vray for 3d modelling
and rendering using oc'd [email protected] system for
modelling and oc'd 1090t@4ghz as a hexacore render
slave and two more old dual core systems as additional
render nodes.
If you intend to do lots of modelling and rendering,
then having a dedicated modelling system with good
graphics card and a dedicated render node helps a lot.
If I were you I'll get 1090t for a render slave and invest
extra money on good graphics card as new versions of
3ds max uses directx.

Thanks for the replies.

At the moment I have a 2.5Ghz quad core AMD processor with a nvidia 9800GTX graphics card and 8GB memory. I'm planning to upgrade the graphics card to a ATI 6870 1GB and was hoping to upgrade the processor to either the 1090t or the i7 2600k.

I've heard about render nodes but never really researched much into it. Might need to consider creating one.
