Greetings overclockers uk,
Have just purchased a Phenom x2 550 BE cpu and ASRock A790GXH/128M
Upgraded from an Althon x2 6000+ (3.0ghz Dual Core) & ASRock ALiveNF4G-DVI
Hope i made a good choice, obviously taking a risk on this cpu hoping i can get an unlock of the extra cores (couldnt afford the sandybridge jump).
Haven't unlocked/oc'd any cpu before so i just thought id ask you guys if you have any advice to share. The mobos southbridge is SB750. Supports CPU upto 140w, Includes AMD Overdrive with ACC and Untied Overclocking Technology.
I really dont know anything about RAM timers? timings? and if certain speeds of ram are better for OC then others. I currently have 2gig of DDR2-533 from my old machine. The new board can suppport 533 to 1066. If im planning to OC which ram would be best 800 / 1066? or do you think i should just keep the 533 and just add an extra 2gig. How does the ram effect the CPU oc?
I have a HyperMaster CPU Fan and Thermaltake Tr2-550pp (550w) ps. Any advice with ram timing? and unlock/oc settings appreciated!
