AMD Phenom overclocked Ram question

My current computer setup is one i bought from here
My processor is an AMD Phenom x6 1055t overclocked from 2.8ghz to 3.8ghz with a gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2h motherboard.
My current ram is the corair dominator CMD4GX3M2A1600C9 .

I was wondering if there is a way to get different ram to this without stopping the overclocking speeds or whether there is another set of RAm i can get for cheaper that will allow me to retain the speeds?

You can fit different memory with the same settings: i.e 1600MHZ, 9-9-9-24 @ 1.65V.

e.g. Kingston HyperX Greys 2 x 4Gb or 2 x 2Gb Sets or Corsair XMS3 again 2 x 4Gb or 2 x 2Gb sets. Both of these sets are very slu.tty (fit in most MBs) and have the same settings as your Dominators.

There's no real reason why your clock should be effected - but there's always a risk of adding stabilty issues when changing memory in a 'clocked' system - even when using quality sets and of the same spec.

EDIT: Are you looking to increase the amount of memory or just swap type/brand?

Although 2 x 4Gb will use the same amount of slots as 2 x 2Gb it will still put slight extra stess on the memory controller so this too may destabalise your clock. Hopefully they will just sot in without any fuss - but you need to be prepared that you may need to do some tinkering in the BIOS if things don't go according to plan.

Be sure to save your clocked profile in the BIOS...

Yeah i bought the Kingston RAM and put it in and there are problems with the overclock i get a message saying 'last settings in bios setup may not coincide with current h/w states' and it reverts back to the default setting for the CPU and i am not too sure what needs to be done to stop this from happening

Yeah i really dont know what has happened and haven't been able to figure out the problem so if anyone could help me i would be eternally grateful as i am a bit stuck atm
