hey all

using an asrock n68c board i am trying to unlock the phenom x2 be to quadcore using the boards ucc feature but when i enable it the comp shuts down reboots but nothing comes on the screen. i then have to reboot cmos to restart windows.

any thoughts on this or is there another way to unlock the 4 core?

thanks

try giving the chip some more voltage in the bios, reboot and use ucc and maybe it will work. Also chek that your using the newest bios.

I am currently using this board and found that the bios version 1.1 and 1.3 were the best for this function, I personally went for 1.1 as it give you the option of shuting down any faulty cores. I am currently running Phenom II X2 550 as a Phenom II X4 B50 @ 3.4Ghz using stock voltages and stock cooler.

Hope this helps

It might be the chip in the end as I have a 9950 dual core BE down stairs and the asus board its on refuses to unlock it :(

hey guys thanks for the replies.

i have been trying to update the bios. 1st using the flash but it couldnt find the bios file from my hard drive or usb drive so tried the windows option and the program gives me an error "file rom id incorrect".

any idea on this one.?

thanks

make sure you select N68C-S UCC as I made that mistake. If you cant get them let me know and I can send them to you.
