hello people, I have just purchased a amd phenom x3 8450e 2.1ghz cpu.

Does this cpu have a locked core to be able to unlock it to 4 cores?

I have this motherboard: Foxconn A6VMX

A6VMX

Regards.

All 3-core Phenoms and Athlons can potentially be unlocked to quad cores. You need to look for a setting called ACC (advanced clock calibration). It will be in your motherboard manual if the feature is present. However, there is no guarantee that the locked core is stable. It will most likely require a voltage increase.

For you to be able to try and unlock cores the motherboard needs a chipset which supports this feature.

Unfortunatly the SB600 is not compatible with core unlock, this requires an SB710 or SB750 or newer chipset, some Nvidia chipsets also support this.
