i can only afford this bits at the mo,,saving up here is not a option with the wife and kids,,,all im planning to do is update the system with a slate drive so gaming my be a bit faster and do the cpu at the same time as the memory is fine,,, or am i way of the mark

Right... dragging from your other thread...

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ @ 2.5 GHz
MB: MSI K9AG Neo2-Digital
RAM: 5 GB
GPU: Zotac GTS 250

Then I guess the X4 9850 will be a good upgrade then, if you can get it for a very cheap price.

As for the RAM, how is it set up? Since the board runs in dual channel and needs an even amount of RAM modules, otherwise it will just run in single channel. Also what version of Windows are you running? Is it 32 bit or 64 bit?

And what SSD was you considering? (I assume that's what you mean by slate...). It might be better to use the money for the SSD for a better CPU/Motherboard/RAM combo instead. Which then if you decide to do this, what would be your overall budget? But then this will also require you to do a clean install of Windows as well...
