AMD prepping 7930

What a pointless card... OC'd 7850 is right up there with a stock 7950, an OC'd 7870 is actualy faster than a 7950...

So a 7930 would be pretty much the same as a 7870...

I can only see them doing this because they have a ton of duff cores and they are cheaper to make than 7870's...

They did something similar iirc with the 5000 series, releasing a 5830, pointless imo.

Maybe it's going up against the 660.

AMD already have a card ready for whatever price/performance point the 660/660ti comes in at.

In-fact AMD did really well in covering off all bases pretty much before nVidia even came to the market.

Don't see where the 7930 is going to fit in.

The 7930 is a salvage part, they release it otherwise it get thrown in the bin. Not worth much to AMD but better than throwing them away.

As if the 7870 isn't a pointless card for the sake of pushing up the prices of 7950 and 7970 already (as 7950 and 7970 should really be at 7870 and 7950 price)...I guess AMD is just trying get money for GPU which the cores don't cut it and make some money rather than binning them?

The xx30 in the 5 series still sold. There wasn't a lot of them, but they were cheap and sold - despite being poor value for money.
