AMD Preps First AM3-based Sempron Processors

thats the debait, DDR3 runs at higher speeds but for lower wattage/voltage needed, that should mean less heat and lower energy bills :P

and DDR3 is already quite cheap £40 for a decent set there about

But much higher CAS Latencies, which do make a difference to your experience. RAM speeds don't really. Don't get me wrong, i'm sure it will be worth it sometime, but at the minute i don't think it's really worth it over DDR2.

i think this kinda chip will be useful for notebooks etc

Seen a lot of low end laptops with semprons in them. They tend to be priced just above net books and have 15" screens sorta thing. Almost fell into that when someone asked me if one of those laptops would be any good.

why would a office machine want DDR3 -.- well I can take into account that DDR3 runs at a lower voltage

cos thats why you buy this type of CPU for office use imo

Its almost cheaper than DDR2 now so cost cutting I guess.
