AMD Preps Radeon HD 3830

Do they really ned another card out on the market? id have thought with the price drops coming the 3850 would cover that end of the market easily?

Probably just a way of clearing RV670 stock since the 3830 spec is exactly the same as 3850 and 3870 just with 128bit memory.

It does say it's to compete with the 8600GTS so if the price is right it can be a huge sellout. Imagine 3830 crossfire for £150.

yes but with the price drop 3850 CF should be about that.

I think by the time these cards reach us they will be closer to £50/60 each...

I remember reading about these cards ages ago and thinking this would be what I would get. They may be perfect for current games, bar crysis, with max/high settings without AA.

128bit bus probably won't kill much below 720p. Could be a great cheap HTPC card for people that fancy a bit of gaming.

If power consumption's low enough I might consider it for a 'Games for Windows Console' I'm vaguely thinking of building. Even the tiny 200w psu in a Hiper media chassis could probably cope with one of these when paired with an energy efficient Athlon X2 (althought heat venting could be an issue...) That would make a nice bit of kit...
