Okie after some thought on a £2000 system, How would a top spec AMD quad overclocked to 3.8 compare to a i7 920 at 3.8, taking into account boards and memory speed diffs, both will have a Radeon HD4890 and about 6 gig of mem. There would be a £600 diff in favour of the AMD

Can anyone give a percentage in performance diff

Many thx money waiting just aint sure!

Looking at the graphics card you intend to use i summise the system will be for Gaming
If that is so then performance wise there is very little between the 2.
However if you plan to do lots of encoding and graphics with it then the performnce side of it definetly goe's to Intels i7 due to its Hyperthreading.

You don't need £2000 to get a good system, an AMD top spec system can be acquired for £800-£1000, and an Intel top spec system can be acquired for £900-£1100.

If by chance you have Dx11 floating about in your head, then get an ATI Radeon 4870 1GB card.

The AMD Phenom II X4 955 is right behind the Intel Core i7 in gaming so you won't see much difference between the two, so it comes down to personal preference when choosing.

Wait for the new amd 965 chip if you want a high spec machine then you can buy watercooling top of the range case, sdd and high end graphics cards.

£2000 is serious overkill.

Here's a FULL AMD system including monitor keyboard and mouse for just over a grand, even has an SSD for the OS and the thermal paste! :D lol

I take it you bought this from elsewhere right?

OcUK dont have any EX58 Extreme mobos in stock, and they don't even have a ETA when they will have them back in neither...

Anyway, that rig should be a monster setup once you get it built up, although if I were you, I would have thrown in an 80GB SSD for installing your OS onto...

Apart from that though everything looks good... Don't suppose you would be ineterested in selling one of the copies of H.A.W.X once you get all this gear delivered???? :D

Was ordered from Oc just they have changed there Pc Configurator this morning by the looks of it and changed all the upgrade options. EX48 showing instock i hope. SSD to come later spent enough today. Cause u asked first i may give u a copy if my son dont want it, see what its like first

This argument is getting old. It depends what you need. Hhow silent you want the system and a few other things. You may well need 2k for a top spec system.
