Hi All,

My system is stating to struggle with Battlefield 4 and finding myself reducing the settings from High, Medium now possibly Low with the latest updates as the game is starting to slow down.

Would I see a nice increase going to a 380? Something like this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...ddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-383-as.html

I have had my hard for around 2 years now, and although not the top spec at the time overclocked quite nicely. Would this allow me to play games for another 2 - 3 years at good settings?

It will give you about +40%.

BF-Hardline.... 7870: 21 FPS - 380: 27 FPS

A 290 should give you about +110%, that is what you should look for.

I would also aim a little higher (always nice to if you can), though I would say that a 380 is still a very nice upgrade from a 7850 (approx twice the performance).

Bear in mind that the above doesn't take into account any overclocking you may have applied to your 7850. The 380 is essentially the same speed as a 1ghz 7970, but maybe a tad quicker, though you'd never notice it.

Only me again!

Well it was my 30th birthday just gone last week and after getting some lovely gifts I was also lucky enough to get a little bit of birthday money.

I think at a push I could have around £200 to spend on a gfx card factoring in getting around £40-£45 for my 7850.

Going to hunt around as I have some other bits and pieces I could sell however at this price point is a 290 a good shout?

What sort of longevity would this card give me at say high/ultra settings at 1080p?
Are they good at overclocking?
Would my power supply me sufficient? (Corsair Builder Series CX 600W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply)

I purchased my system in September 2013, I would like to think with the GFX and maybe a SDD it would last another 2/3 years before I look at a complete new system again.

Many thanks!

Be very careful buying a 290/290x, Reference are loud and hot and a lot of non reference are just as bad, Avoid ASUS and MSI if possible. Sapphire is the best bet. Personally I'd try to get a 390 if possible (Sapphire) if not a 380X.
