While they perform much better than i was expecting the pricing is to close to the 850pro and to far from the MX100/840 EVO to make me condsider the Radeon drives over the aforementioned Samsung's and Crucial drives.

Still good to see OCZ back up with big two.

On a related note are Overclockers considering stocking the Hynix drives? as they look interesting as well on the bang for buck scale

Is the OCZ Barefoot 3 controller before or after the toshiba buyout?

Before.

It's slightly annoying that these R7 drives are slower and yet more expensive than a load of basically better drives. You'd at least think they'd attempt to be price competitive with the SSD's they're actually in competition with, instead of claiming to to be near the top.

For the same price as the 120GB model you can get a 256GB MX100. The latter may be slower on paper but in reality you will benefit far more from the extra storage capcity in the real world.

AMD, always finding new ways to lose money :D
Yea...they have mistaken themselves for Nvidia...:p

If it was Nvidia who pulled this it could work (since they are plenty of people want everything "green" :p)...but them? Not gonna happen, considering not even Intel's brand SSD could compete with the like of Samsung and Crucial...

Not coming in at a great price point to be honest. I guess these are all about the fanboys and people wanting a certain brand to "fit" their system. Better drives available for less money and they're OCZ under the hood which doesn't exactly inspire confidence! Performance is pretty good mind you.

So they are not the fastest, not the cheapest and don't offer much bang for buck....what exactly is the point of these again?

Pretty much sums it up. AMD, Corsair, and OCZ/Tosh have all released new SSDs this past two weeks, and not a single one of them can compete on features/performance vs price against either the Sammy 840/850 Evo's (even without RAPID mode)

I don't see the point?

Hmm disappointed with OC's prices a few reputablle PC publications state that prices are meant to start from £59.99 for the 120Gb version

Please let me know who these reputable PC publications are as our pricing is based on the cost price provided by AMD. I can then go back to them and ask them why we are unable to hit this pricing you have seen. I would love to be able to provide them to you for this price.

Both AMD and OCZ have press releases dated 19/08/2014 stating prices will start from $99 for the 120Gb version.

PCGameware.co.uk state price as from £59.99
AnandTech Portal from $99
Techpowerup $99

I'm not sure if all this means it will be available in the uk at that price as that isn't stated. But hope you can look at it in further detail. Can't link them as im on phone atm
