AMD RAM DISKS

If there was a decent safety mechanism (backup) and it was all pretty much transparent, they would be fine... but you can't really go without permanent storage.. ram is just too risky really (And I've always liked the idea of RAM Disks).

I use DataRam, as it offers you the option to back up the ramdisk to a hard drive.

Also see this thread. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18395046&highlight=ramdisk

Use to run pc with 32gb memory split 16gb/16gb for pc & ramdisk, also used 12gb/20gb, on my htpc I have 12gb memory split 6gb/6gb for pc & ramdisk, avoids buffering when copying, timeshifting, etc.
