So wait for 1,200-1,400 £ mba CARDS,So Gamer's Nexus sums up - high coil whine, power spikes and avoid the reference MBA cards but wait for AIB
Did the coil whine go away when gaming or was it just in the menus and stuff that it was apparent? My 6700XT whines before it gets into games. Not really an issue. But if people go "ooh coil whine" and have a card outside of a rig in the open, that's a bit ridiculous. So Gamer's Nexus sums up - high coil whine, power spikes and avoid the reference MBA cards but wait for AIB
I was just about to say, so who's fault is it benchmarking a game where Nvidia doesn't do well. It's Nvidia's problem to resolve. lol.@RavenXXX2 let me guess, W1zzard is recommending the 4080.
MW2 is "unoptimised for Nvidia" So not an AMD strength, an Nvidia failing, a very rare one i'm sure W1zzard would want to stress if prompted...
Hmm,
I was looking to upgrade from a 1080, I was waiting for the AMD 7900 XTX...
I'm not sure how I feel, can someone tell me how I should feel about the performance/price?
I have to say i expected much better from RDNA3 its not even the 2nd best card to be fair.
So in a nutshell. 7900 xtx is a 4080 rasta performance, with 3090 RT performance.
Maybe that fine wine AMD drivers will deliver in a years time.
Not getting the association here with Stockholm syndrome... I'm not sure that means what you think it means. Who's being held hostage?
People are upset, not only because they want AMD to take market share so there's more lively competition, but also and acutely, they want to see prices (all prices) come down to something less than off-the-wall bananas i.e. where we're at now. And there's no price dropping coming with this performance.
I suppose one takeaway is we can revert to throwing AMD's official performance numbers out with the rubbish. Nowhere do I see the up to 60% performance improvement over 6950xt they were purporting.
Edit: to put it in perspective, I was looking to upgrade to 7900xtx had it met the performance (or near it) that AMD was suggesting. A bit nope now.
Very game dependant.
It barely outpaces my old 3080 in some RT heavy games.
It is between the 4080 and 4090 in Rasta. I'm just watching Gamers Nexus now and looking at the chart. It flip flops between being 2nd and 3rd place (1st obviously being the 4090).Really disappointing was hoping it was gonna be between 4080 and 4090 in raster
Regardless was not buying either anyway unless these were around £750
What a crap generation this seems to be heading at , performance is fine just pricing and can imagine the lower stacks are gonna be even worse
Gonna stick it out with the 3080 which cost £649 should be fine at 1440p hopefully next gen will get worth uplift from the 3080 at around £700-£750
I do hope AMD can keep improving hate to see just Nvidia
As it's new chiplet design hopefully fine wine kicks in with drivers over time

'Mostly' is irrelevant. It's about specific games & more importantly performance where it matters the most! If it wins by 10% when fps is already 300 that's a borderline pointless win vs the scenario where XTX is <60 fps & 4080 is >60. Likewise for vram, it was a conversation when it was 8-10 GB vs 16 GB but it's a non-issue when it's 16 GB vs 20-24 GB.How are people calling this a failure? Must be watching different sources I guess.
It mostly beats the RTX 4080 and costs less, has more vram and AMD are known for improving performance with drivers.
Pretty much my read seeing the RT vs raster ratios compared to RDNA 2 (almost identical). They decided to keep devaluing their GPU brand just to maintain margins. A poor decision even in a business sense, but alas, what else can we expect from AMD. Post-Vega it's been a very disappointing journey overall despite some positive developments initially. This is my feeling too, no mention of any hardware advances in RDNA3 bar RT improvement, seems they focussed just on getting the hardware/chiplets right.
"Good" is too subjective. Definitely higher value in the current market tho.So the XTX is 4080 performance minus RT for £1000, hands up if you thought £1000 for a 4080 was a good price?
False. I've bought nothing but Radeon for decades but it's impossible for me to recommend it anymore. The vram advantage with RDNA 2 was enough to attempt a defence, at least below a 3080, but for RDNA 3 vs Lovelace, it's just a complete Nvidia sweep. I simply don't see a single winning point for AMD anymore, outside of uber niche scenarios which are not even worth mentioning because there's like 8 people who would care.People are just disappointed that AMDs offering won't be strong enough to force nvidia to drop prices by 30%.
People with no intention of buying an AMD card pretending they care how good or bad they perform.
More like reading from a different script. How are people calling this a failure? Must be watching different sources I guess.
