Naaaahh.

This generation's pricing can get in the bin. I'm going to go and give my 3080FE a hug and re-assure it it's still got a few years left in my pc :)
I shall be sticking with my 3080 also, this generation from both manufacturers has to be the worse I think I've ever seen. The 4090 is really the only next gen worthy card while everything else is mid range rubbish for premium pricing.

For 1080£ these cards will be on the shelves for a looooooooong time.

Gibbo will have to throw in a lot of Haribos to make them shift.
Like a trucks worth... lol
Seems to be £1049 for the XTX non OC.
Only £150 more for a 4080FE, may struggle.. I'm tempted slightly though as most games I play AMD has the advantage.

Ironically the 7900 XT (not XTX) would give a decent upgrade for me with a 3080. About 35% - 40% faster at 4K in raster and faster in RT for the very rare occassions I enable it. If it were £700 I would be happy with one. Well other than the terrible multiple monitor power consumption, that has to be a bug AMD.

Considering relative raster and RT performance I would give the 4080 the nod if I were spending £1100 - £1200 on a GPU. The only potential saving grace for the 7900 XTX is if it is £150 cheaper than a 4080.

I just had a quick look at the reviews. So the RTX7900XT is bit faster overall in rasterisation(but slower than the AMD slides implied) than an RTX4080,but the latter is about 15% to 20% faster in RT according to TPU. It seems the RT uplift is actually much larger than I expected since it seems to be slightly better than an RTX3090TI according to TPU:

It seem's the uplift in RT is greater than the uplift in rasterised performance!Still overpriced like the rest of them!

Well the reveiws have sunk in and AMD have done the impossible and made the 4080 look like a decent card. If the 4080/4090 did not have a frankenstein fatboy PCB I would be ordering one right about now. As it is I think I will stick with my current gpu.

What is really turning me off the 7900 is the many and varied bugs including the high idle power draw. I normally do not mind bugs as i think they will be fixed but I do not want to be a beta tester and find out it cannot be fixed.
