AMD RDNA3 unveiling event

  • Raster performance is a wash between the 7900 XTX and the 4080
  • 4080 RT performance is about 15% to 20% better on average.
  • Power consumption is lower on the 4080
  • 7900 XTX is smaller
  • 7900 XTX uses normal power cables
So pick either and be happy, or pick neither because they are joke prices and AMD and Nvidia need to find this out the hard way.
Also this is for the 2x8 pin 7900xtx. Will be good to see the 3x8 pin fully unleashed data.

No unfortunately not, thankfully I play a lot of indie stuff these days so the 1080ti can just about hang in there still, but when this thing ***** the bed I don't know what the plan is, probably just stop gaming to be honest.
Or just buy a console at this point.

Called what? That a gpu wouldn't live up to the stupid amount of hype being put on it, mainly fuelled by random "leaks" proclaiming it to be the second coming? This has to be a first in the tech world!!!!!

It's the same every launch. Hype up the AMD launch so you can crap over it. AMD themselves said it was a 4080 competitor and it competes with the 4080 while being cheaper. My main gripe with it is i thought it would have more of a lead in raster and it consumes a bit more power. AMD clearly made a leap in RT being around 16% slower than Nvidia 2nd gpu. It's a flawed release but Nvidia's was a kick in the teeth after Covid.

All the hype came from AMD, they blew it.

I think you'll find the usual leaks and rumours 99% of which are utter BS also fuelled peoples expectations and got them imagining some god tier gpu. As usual these leaks along the way somehow become fact then people feel underwhelmed when the actual performance numbers appear. This also being the first chiplet based gpu had people thinking it was gonna blow everything out of the water due to it being new tech.

Where is all this amd hype as I'm not seeing it, they did their standard release, gave their numbers and that was it, I don't recall amd releasing images of a 7900xtx sexually violating a 4090, though to read some of the comments on here that seems to be something I missed as some people really had that expectation for some reason.

It's a failure from Lisa, this and zen 4 is a disaster for AMD.

How's zen 4 a failure? The fail in that platform lies with motherboards being stupidly expensive with manufacturers taking the **** with their pricing. Once they get more reasonable with prices they'll sell more. But it doesn't help with a cost of living crisis and potential global recession on the horizon.

At this point i think he's just looking for reactions, in his underwear behind a keyboard caked in cheesy puffs.

That 16%... Could depend in which games you're looking at. Light RT will favour AMD.
